Knowledge
An Invitation to Understand What You Wear.
At Verne, jewelry is more than ornament — it is meaning made tangible. Every element we use, from the rarest gemstones to the purest metals, is chosen not only for its beauty, but for its symbolism, heritage, and the way it speaks to your story. This guide offers insight into the exceptional materials behind every Verne piece.
1. Precious Metals
The foundation of fine jewelry, metals hold both physical structure and spiritual weight. We work only with responsibly sourced, high-grade metals that reflect our values of integrity, longevity, and quiet strength.
18K Gold
Verne’s signature metal — composed of 75% pure gold blended with carefully chosen alloys for durability.
- Yellow Gold: Classic and timeless, evoking warmth and regality.
- White Gold: Plated with rhodium for brilliance, its modern sheen complements diamonds beautifully.
- Rose Gold: Infused with copper for a romantic blush tone — soft, expressive, and contemporary.
18K gold is prized in high jewelry for its balance of purity and wearability. It resists tarnishing and maintains its value over generations.
Platinum
Naturally white, dense, and hypoallergenic, platinum is one of the rarest and most noble
metals. Heavier than gold and virtually unchanging over time, it is the ultimate metal for those who value subtle prestige and lasting strength.
Sterling Silver
Used selectively in Verne’s smaller pieces or artistic accents, our silver is solid 925 grade — 92.5% pure silver alloyed for strength. It offers a soft, moonlit luster ideal for understated refinement.
2. Diamonds: Grading & Types
At Verne, we approach diamonds with reverence — not merely as luxury commodities, but as ancient wonders forged under pressure and time. We select diamonds that align with our core values: emotional clarity, rare beauty, and uncompromising quality.
Diamond Grading (The 4Cs)
Our diamonds are graded using GIA standards — the global benchmark for diamond evaluation:
- Cut: The most crucial factor in how a diamond sparkles. We only work with Excellent or Very Good cuts to ensure maximum brilliance and fire.
- Color: We use diamonds in the D–H range (colorless to near-colorless), with a preference for G+ in centerpieces.
- Clarity: Most Verne diamonds are VS+ (Very Slightly Included or better), meaning inclusions are not visible to the naked eye.
- Carat: Our designs emphasize balance — focusing not just on size, but proportion and light return.
We help clients choose diamonds based not only on specifications, but on emotional connection, silhouette, and soul.
Diamond Types We Use
- Natural White Diamonds: Ethically sourced and GIA-certified, these are the most classic choice for heirloom luxury.
- Fancy Color Diamonds: Rare and expressive, these diamonds occur naturally in colors such as champagne, yellow, or pink.
- Salt & Pepper Diamonds: Containing natural inclusions that resemble constellations or smoke, these diamonds are chosen for individuality and organic beauty
- Lab-Grown Diamonds (by request only): Grown with the same physical, chemical, and optical properties as mined diamonds. Ideal for clients who prioritize sustainability and modern values
3. Natural Color Gemstones
Verne uses only natural, untreated or minimally treated colored gemstones sourced from trusted partners who share our commitment to ethics and rarity. We believe color is emotion — and colored gems are stories set in stone.
Sapphire
Second only to diamonds in hardness, sapphires are extraordinarily durable and versatile. While blue is most iconic, Verne works with rare hues such as peach, teal, lavender, and green.
- Symbolism: Truth, loyalty, inner calm.
- Origin: Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Montana (USA).
Ruby
The ruby is the red variety of corundum — the same mineral as sapphire — and one of the most precious gemstones in history. We favor stones with strong saturation and minimal treatment.
- Symbolism: Passion, protection, vitality.
- Origin: Mozambique, Myanmar.
Emerald
Prized for its vibrant green and natural inclusions (jardin), emeralds are a symbol of life and renewal. Our emeralds are carefully selected for color, transparency, and authenticity.
- Symbolism: Growth, love, clarity.
- Origin: Colombia, Zambia.
Spinel
Once mistaken for ruby, spinel is an unsung hero in fine jewelry. Naturally occurring in vivid red, pink, gray, and violet.
- Symbolism: Resilience, originality.
- Origin: Burma, Tanzania, Vietnam.
Tourmaline
One of nature’s most colorful stones — from electric green to pastel pink and bi-color watermelon varieties.
- Symbolism: Emotional healing, creativity, joy
- Origin: Brazil, Afghanistan, Nigeria.
Other Stones We Use Selectively
- Moonstone – For ethereal glow and feminine mystery.
- Tanzanite – Exclusive to Tanzania, known for its velvet blue-violet color.
- Citrine, Garnet, Peridot – Used in artistic capsule pieces or private commissions.
Each gemstone is chosen not just for color, but for its energy, rarity, and resonance with the wearer’s story.
4. Birthstones: A Tradition Reimagined
At Verne, we honor the legacy of birthstones while offering a contemporary perspective. You may wear your birthstone, or choose another that reflects your soul. These stones are not rules — they are reflections.
